NAC Executive Meeting Minutes

Attendees: Bigyan, Ankur, Sarana, Anita, Prajesh, Raju, Bishnu, Kshitiz, Nitesh, Sanjay

1. July Puja – Lead: Bishnu 

• Challenge: July 5 Puja is close to the July 4 holiday, making it difficult for participation.

• Sponsors: Currently only 2 sponsors plus Bishnu; Kshitiz has agreed to be an add-on sponsor.

• June Certificates: Discussion on distributing June certificates.

  • Sarana proposed distributing them during TFT in the basement. She will coordinate this.

• Future Sponsorships:

  • CTS will sponsor September Puja.

  • West-Chicago group is sponsoring August Puja.

• TFT Program: Will continue as usual for children.

• Newsletter Feedback:

  • Bishnu praised the quality of the newsletter and children’s contributions.

  • Encouraged members to read the submitted articles.

• Article Submissions: Confirmed that out-of-state members can also contribute.

2. Sports Update – Lead: Nitesh 

• Volleyball Tournament: Successfully completed with good participation, though fewer women attended.

• Soccer Tournament: Planned for July 12 (7v7 format); location TBD; 4–5 teams already confirmed.

• Children’s Activities: Kids’ games to be included on the same day.

• Future Plans: Exploring a date for a basketball event.

• Participation Fee: Raju suggested increasing the fee to create a small cash reserve for NAC.

3. Walk/Bike Event – Lead: Sarana

Action Points:

• A) NAC to create a Facebook event.

• B) All executive members to share the event with friends/family.

• C) NAC to send formal invitations to local social organizations.

• D) Discussion on hosting a children’s interactive baked goodies selling session as part of fundraising.

• E) NAC executives to gather names of interested children.

• F) Shri to oversee management of barbecue, lunch, raffles, and games.

Outreach Plan:

• Will contact Marvin, leaders from local social organizations, and the Mayor for support/attendance.

• Sponsorship: JJ Tax pledged $100 as the first sponsor.

4. NAC Art and Culture Program – Leads: Kshitiz / Ankur 

• Discussed the need for Art & Culture program in light of upcoming Nepal Fest 2026.

• Decision: Skip the Art & Culture program this year.

5. Gala Dinner – Lead: Ankur

• Consensus that we are not ready to host a Gala Dinner due to:

  • Lack of a venue/property.

  • No clear roadmap or progress report to showcase.

  • Risk of it being counterproductive.

• Input from various members:

  • Sarana and Shri advised against it.

  • Shanta suggested focusing on the Nepal Fest.

  • Bishnu shared concerns and recommended possibly working with CNFS in the future.

• Decision: No Gala Dinner will be held this year.

6. Nepal Fest 2026 – Leads: Ankur / Shri 

• Communication Lead: Binod Dhungel will coordinate outreach and help bridge communication with other organizations.

• Need Identified: A communication lead from the Naperville area.

• Immediate Task: Form the organizing committee and initiate communication for member sign-up.

• Off-topic Discussion: Urgent need to purchase property/land for NAC’s future.
