Thanks to all our donors, we have hit the 35,000 USD mark, but we still have a long way to go. We like to assure you that your donation will be used 100% to the beneficiaries. As you may already know, there are still lot of survivors without proper shelter to live, no clean water to drink, no food, no sanitation, no medicine and no care for injured. To top it all of, the monsoon is right around the corner. So they need our help and they need it fast. And we know we can do it. So, we request you all to spread the word and encourage your friends and family to donate through our website. http://www.nepaliamericancenter.org. NAC Strategies on dispersing funds for the Nepal Earthquake Relief Effort. a) Nepali American Center (NAC) will be working directly with Non Resident Nepali Of USA ( www.nrnnccusa.org, a non-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization) to disperse the funds towards relief effort. Volunteers from NRN NCC USA are already in the ground working in the hardest hit areas in Nepal, and they have been doing excellent job mobilizing the volunteers and providing relief to the victims. They have already shown their credibility and NAC has full faith that providing the funds to NRN NCC USA will make sure 100% of the donation amount will be used for the relief, with zero administration cost. NRNNCC will also be working directly with our preferred local community in Nepal that have been severely damaged by the earthquake. – To this essence, Nepali American Center has already transferred 15000 USD to the NRNNCCUSA bank account. NRN NCC will work with our preferred local organization to disperse the funds, after verifying its credibility. The board will be compiling the list of local organizations and will be meeting again to sort out the organizations/community/groups that NAC should be supporting. The list of organizations/local groups will then be sent to NRN NCC. b) The supporting organization or a group is welcomed to hold a charitable event to raise funds for Nepal Earthquake Relief under Nepali American Center ( NAC) to provide their support towards Nepal and People of Nepal. Nepali American Center (NAC) is a non for profit 501 (c)(3) charitable organization and all their donations is tax deductible. The portion or in whole of the donation raised during their event will be used to support any preferred group or community suffered from the earthquake of their choice. The supporting organization or group would need to let NAC know about this event and would request NAC’s presence in this event. In order to provide full accountability, the supporting organization or group would need to provide : – The name of their local preferred group or community in Nepal ( the preferred group or community should be a registered non-for-profit organization in US or Nepal) – Include Nepali American Center banner wherever possible – Provide appropriate proof of purchases/expenses made in Nepal with pictures/videos if available. – To this essence, NAC has already dispersed 2864.15 USD directly to one of the local community organization in Nepal for the purchase of the tent. The invoice of the tent, and the summary of where and how it was used will be updated in our website. c) NAC will soon be dispersing additional money to Nepal through NRNNCC USA, after evaluating the needs of the groups/community that has been hardest hit by the earthquake. d) For accountability and transparency, all the activities related to donations, and how the funds were utilized will be published in our website as soon as practically possible. So, please keep checking our website for updates.

“Bad things do happen in the world, like war, natural disaster, and disease. But out of those situation always arise stories of ordinary people doing extra ordinary things” Daryn Kagan. Dear Community members: Our hearts goes out to victims and survivors of the Earthquake and our Nepali Families. This disaster will go down in our history as one of the largest natural disaster in Nepal’s History. With that in mind when asked by her mom how would you like to help? And my 10 year old baby girl responded; “Mom I would love to send personalized card with love and support and include stationaries for little children affected by the tragedy”. As a parent nothing makes you proud than your child understanding what has happened and think of compassion. To fulfill her wish we would like to share this idea to our Nepali community “Kids for kids”. The program will get all our kids to personalize the card and donate stationary items such as pencil, crayons, stickers….etc. If you wish to donate cash, you can do that and it will be used to buy those items. Thank you and God bless and please continue to pray for our motherland. For further detail, please contact Roshan-Pratigya Bastola @ (773)742-7201/7205 or prbastola@hotmail.com . The deadline is May 25, 2015.
